I'm Natalie Shearin, Digital Learning Coach here at G.W. Carver. This is my second year here and I love it! I'm formally known as the media coordinator, so I take care of the Learning Commons (library). I try to keep up with the students' daily check-out of books, and I plan and teach lessons that center around literacy, technology, and STEAM.
I'm a Nash County native and this is my fourteenth year in education. I have taught 4th and 5th grade in Nash-Rocky Mount, Harnett and Edgecombe County school systems. I've also been in the media center at both the elementary and middle school levels.
After graduating from Appalachian State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in K-6 Elementary Education, I decided to return for my Masters of Library Science and completed that in 2012. I added a Masters of Instructional Technology in 2017 from East Carolina University and a National Board Certification in Early Childhood Literacy in 2011.
The excitement of working in such a wonderful community with great support from all stakeholders makes coming to work at Carver such a blessing!
