Welcome, Eagles!

My name is Ryan Thorne and I am thrilled to be an Eagle as the administrative intern at G. W. Carver Elementary School for the 2022-2023 academic year!


I am a native of eastern North Carolina. I am also a graduate of Duke University (Bachelor of Arts in Art History), Johns Hopkins University (Master of Science in Education - Secondary Education), and Teach for America-Eastern North Carolina.  I have taught both general education humanities and Exceptional Children’s reading resource classes at the middle school level.  Currently, I am enrolled at North Carolina State University pursuing a Master of School Administration through the NC State Educational Leadership Academy (NELA), intending to graduate in May 2023.


I cannot wait to learn from and with the incredible Carver community to ensure that all Eagles SOAR HIGH!

I believe in a possible future in which all members of learning communities will be able to use their authentic voices in order to have agency in their communities. I believe in a possible future in which schools equitably support the whole child, academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe in a possible future in which all students graduate as citizens ready and willing to respond to the world’s most pressing matters. I believe in this possible future.
